COMPETITION RULES
- Participants must be fully paid up members of London Adult Figure Skating Club for the 2022 calendar year for entries to be accepted — membership information is available here.
- Competitors in the Spin Jump Spiral categories will be required to perform three elements in a linked sequence not exceeding 1 minute. The elements may be skated in any order, with forward/backward stroking/crossovers and any necessary linking steps/turns. These categories will take place on half ice, with the remaining space used for the next group to warm up.
- Competitors in Solo Pattern Dance and Couples Pattern Dance will skate the dance pattern for two sequences (one complete circuit of the rink). These categories will take place on full ice, with warm up time before each group (during which pattern dance music will be played).
- The Exhibition and Artistic categories will take place on full ice, with warm up time before each group.
- Competitors who don’t take tests should place themselves in the most appropriate category based on where they would be if they did test, on an honour basis.
- Competitors in the Beginners category may only enter this category in addition to the Solo Exhibition category and/or the Group Exhibition category if desired. Other competitors may enter one Spin Jump Spiral category, one Solo Pattern Dance category, and one Couples Dance category — in addition they may enter either an Exhibition category or an Artistic category.
- The club committee reserves the right to split, combine or cancel categories as it sees fit.
- Background music and pattern dance music will be provided. Skaters may not perform to their own music in the Spin Jump Spiral categories. Skaters must provide their own music for the Exhibition and Artistic categories.
- Music for the Exhibition and Artistic categories must be submitted in advance via Dropbox by the closing date for entries. If music is not received by this deadline, the committee reserves the right to refuse the skater’s entry without granting a refund of entry or membership fees paid.
- Prizes will be awarded to the first 3 places in each category. The judges’ decisions are final.
- Entry fees for Beginners, Spin Jump Spiral and Solo Pattern Dance are £15 for the first category entered and £12 for any additional entry in those categories.
- The entry fee for Solo Exhibition or Artistic is £20. Only one or the other may be entered.
- The entry fee for Couples Pattern Dance is £20.
- The entry fee for Group Exhibition is £25.
- All entries must be accompanied by the appropriate entry fee or the application will be void.
- No refunds will be given for withdrawals and participants are not permitted to sell or otherwise transfer their place to another skater. There will be no transfers between categories once entry has been received.
- Places are limited and will be allocated in order of date of receipt of entry. An entry will not be considered received until all membership and entry fees have been received and, in the case of the Exhibition and Artistic categories, your music has been received in accordance with rule 9.
- The closing date for entries is 11:59pm on 17th July and no late entries will be accepted.
- For Spin Jump Spiral and Dance categories, either competition-style costume or a smart test-style outfit which allows the judges to see your lines will be acceptable dress code. An appropriate costume may be worn in the Exhibition and Artistic categories.
- No flash may be used rinkside. Please tick the box on the entry form to allow any pictures you appear in to be used for club publicity. Your accompanying friends/relatives are permitted to take video of your performance provided that doing so does not distract or obstruct any skater or spectator.
